ONLY GRASS & GRAIN

Welcome to The Reid Family Farm, home of The Fatted Calf, located in beautiful Shelby County, Alabama. Frustrated by low-quality grocery store beef, we began raising our own cattle in 2022. Friends quickly noticed the exceptional taste and quality, and our small family initiative rapidly grew. Today, we proudly offer naturally raised beef, free from steroids and antibiotics—just as nature intended.

"Bring the fatted calf… let us celebrate" embodies joy, abundance, and a return to pure, wholesome nourishment—principles deeply rooted in our farm’s philosophy.

Looking forward to serving you and your family,

Chris Reid

About Us

Our Story

The journey of The Fatted Calf began from our family's deep dissatisfaction with the quality of commercially available meat, which left us concerned for our health and well-being. Driven by our faith and inspired by holistic, biblical health principles, we committed ourselves to raising cattle differently—ethically, naturally, and purely. Our mission quickly resonated within our Shelby County community, affirming our belief that healthy, nutritious beef can and should be accessible to everyone.

At the heart of The Fatted Calf lies unwavering dedication to toxin-free farming. We raise our cattle free from steroids, antibiotics, and harmful chemicals, ensuring the beef we provide is wholesome and nutrient-rich. Our approach integrates our faith with responsible stewardship, reflecting time-tested biblical dietary wisdom. We believe strongly in transparency and integrity, serving our neighbors in Shelby County and beyond with beef they can trust, fostering a community committed to health, wellness, and ethical consumption.
